Last month, Samsung rolled out the April 2023 security patch to carrier-unlocked variants of the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra in the US. A few days ago, the update also reached some variants locked by the two smartphones.
However, devices on the AT&T network did not receive the update. Well, that changes today. Samsung is now rolling out the April 2023 security patch for carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra on the AT&T network in the US.
The latest software update carries the firmware version N98HUSQU4HWD1 It brings with it the April 2023 security patch, which fixes more than 60 security issues. The changelog also says “Camera and gallery functions have been improved“.
Although Samsung did not say what these improvements are, we believe that the company is referring to the addition of a new Image Clipper feature that allows you to easily extract a subject from an image and use it as a picture or sticker in messaging apps to share with others.
Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra units running on the AT&T network should automatically notify users of the latest update. But if your device is not, you can check it manually by going to settings » system update and tapping on Download and install button.
The international variants of the smartphones have also received the April 2023 security patch in several Asian and European countries. You can download the firmware for those devices from our database.
Galaxy Note 20 will not get Android 14 (One UI 6.0) update
Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra launched in 2020 with Android 10 (One UI 2.0) on board. Samsung promised to provide three years of OS upgrades for these devices and roll out all three upgrades (Android 11, Android 12, and Android 13) on time.
This means that neither of these two phones is eligible for the Android 14 (One UI 6.0) update. However, Samsung will continue to push security updates to the Note 20 series for another two years (until 2025).
