BLACKPINK’s Jennie Kim made her way up the Met Gala stairs for the first time Monday night (May 1), looking as pretty as ever in a little white dress originally designed by Karl Lagerfeld for the Fall/Winter 1990 line by Chanel.
Jenny, which was one of Lagerfeld’s last handpicked ideas for the house of Chanel, collaborated with Vogue magazine On Tuesday (May 2) for a behind-the-scenes video of her getting ready and sharing inspiration for her gorgeous look following this year’s Met Gala theme, “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”
While she kept her makeup fresh and simple with a wash of pink and shimmery shades with a matte complexion, the BLACKPINK star shared her hairstyle — a long, straight style pulled back away from her face and her hair braided into a headband and flower pin — inspired by her Korean culture. “The inspiration for my hair was that we wanted to introduce a little bit of our Korean culture and this braided hair reminded us of Jeon Tong’s Korean look and, of course, the classic Karl and Chanel camellias.”
Jenny completed her look with sleek black opera gloves, black tights, and a chunky choker. Her appearance at the Met Gala comes just weeks after she took to the stage at Coachella last month with fellow BLACKPINK bandmates, becoming the first Korean act to headline the festival.
