Celine Dion has announced that she has canceled dates for her “Courage World Tour” through 2024 and “will likely not tour again,” a source close to Dion told CNN on Friday.
“She is in a lot of pain,” said the individual. “She does physical therapy every day.”
An announcement on the singer’s social media read: “I am so sorry to disappoint you all once again.” “I’m working hard to build my strength back up again, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re at 100%. It’s not fair that you keep putting off shows, and even though it breaks my heart, we’d better cancel everything now until I’m really ready.” To get back on stage again. I want you all to know, I’m not giving up…and I can’t wait to see you again!”
Dion postponed several shows in December after announcing she had stiff person syndrome, a condition that, in her words, does not allow her to “sing the way I used to”.
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, the disorder is “a rare, progressive syndrome affecting the nervous system, specifically the brain and spinal cord.”
“While we are still learning about this rare condition, we now know that it was the cause of all the cramps I was having,” Dion said at the time. “Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when walking and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I used to.”
Tickets for her concerts will be redeemed at the point of purchase.
