Dua Lipa arrived at the 2023 Met Gala on Monday (May 1) as this year’s co-chair, completing the theme in one of the most beloved outfits in fashion history.
This year’s theme is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, and the “Levatating” pop star paid homage to the late German fashion designer by wearing one of the Chanel Haute Couture wedding gowns that closed down every runway show. Lipa’s knitted corset dress was originally designed by Lagerfeld’s muse, Claudia Schiffer, during the Chanel Fall-Winter 1992 fashion show.
Lipa accessorized the Chanel bride’s look with her hair in long, loose waves and a stunning bejeweled necklace.
The Grammy-winning star is co-chairing this year’s prestigious event alongside Penelope Cruz, Michaela Cowell and Roger Federer, a group that encompasses “every area of pop culture,” according to Vogue magazine.
“Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” will showcase more than 150 original looks designed by Lagerfeld, who died at age 85 in 2019, and delves into the former Chanel creative director’s seven-decade career. Many of his original drawings are also set to appear alongside the objects on display.
