‘Dancing with the Stars’ Returns to ABC for Season 32 diverse confirmed with sources.
The move to bring the reality competition series back to the broadcast network comes after the show aired for one season exclusively on Disney+. For the upcoming season, the show will air on ABC while also airing on Disney+. In addition, the show will be available the day after its linear debut on Hulu.
Disney representatives declined to comment.
The move to return the show to broadcast wasn’t entirely surprising, especially given the news that the Writers Guild of America (WGA) has officially called a strike against major Hollywood studios for the first time in 15 years. With the strike, scripted television productions will likely suffer, which means unscripted fare like “Dancing with the Stars” will become more important to networks and broadcasters.

Hough’s return came after Tyra Banks announced her departure from the series. Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough were appointed as judges. The series is produced by the Los Angeles-based production arm of BBC Studios. Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews were former hosts of the show before they were unexpectedly let go prior to Season 29.
Len Goodman was previously a judge on the show from 2005 through 2022. Goodman passed away at the age of 78 on April 22.
