Kate Middleton and Prince William share a new photo of Princess Charlotte on her eighth birthday

The Prince and Princess of Wales delighted fans of the King by sharing a new photo of Princess Charlotte for their daughter’s eighth birthday.

The royal couple posted a new photo of their second child on their Instagram account this evening.

In the official photo, Princess Charlotte is pictured cuddling the family’s black cocker spaniel Orla – as she redraws her seventh birthday portrait.

The birthday girl – who looks just like her dad – is dressed in a blue and white striped £23 Boden jumper, a white button-up blouse and blue jeans.

Looking happy and relaxed in front of the camera, Charlotte appears to be lying in a meadow for her annual birthday photo shoot.

Although the couple didn’t reveal exactly where the photo was taken, it appears to be very similar to previous family photos – which were taken on the grounds of Amner Hall in Norfolk.

The photo was taken by photographer Millie Pilkington – who was used by Kate and William in Prince Louis’ fifth birthday photo shoot last month.

Sharing the spicy photo with their 14.6 million followers on Instagram, the couple took the opportunity to express their gratitude for all the well-wishes on their daughter’s special day.

They captioned the photo: “Thank you for all the birthday wishes.”

The post has already racked up over 30,000 ‘likes’ and has delighted royal fans.

One gushed: “So adorable! You can see her parents in her face.”

Another added “excessive cuteness”.

A third said, “She looks very pretty.” “I hope she has a great day.”

In 2020, Kate and William welcome their beloved black cocker spaniel Orla into their family — just months before their first dog Lobo sadly passed away.

The couple’s pet was raised by Kate’s younger brother, James Middleton.

Last month, photographer Millie Pilkington thanked the royal couple for the opportunity to take pictures of Prince Louis.

She wrote on Instagram: ‘Thanks to the Prince and Princess of Wales for crediting me with this photo. # Hahahahahahahaha

Last night, the couple released another new photo of Princess Charlotte ahead of her birthday.

Photographed by her mother, as in previous years, the Princess of Wales, 41, gave a huge smile to mark the occasion.

What’s more, the Princess of Wales dressed her daughter in a £70 floral white Trotters dress for the occasion when Charlotte was pictured sitting on a white wicker chair.

With her dark, disheveled hair and flushed cheeks, country life on the King’s Berkshire estate, where the family had moved to last summer, seems to agree with her.

Today’s latest photo release follows the Welsh tradition of sharing photos of their children to celebrate their birthdays each year, when she was five (pictured, left) and six (pictured, right)

For the photo on her third birthday, Princess Charlotte was snapped with her brother, Prince Louis

On her fourth birthday, the young queen was photographed outdoors

Previously, Princess Charlotte shared birthday photos with her younger brother Louis (pictured, left), and returned to singles the following year when she turned four (pictured, right).

Publishing the photos, Kensington Palace said: “The Prince and Princess of Wales are delighted to share a new photo of Princess Charlotte ahead of her eighth birthday.”

And just like the photos released last year to celebrate Charlotte’s special day, they show the princess’s striking resemblance to her father, Prince William, 40.

The father-daughter duo appear to share a number of similar facial features, including their eyes, nose, and expressions.

They both have big, cheery smiles, which flaunt more than a fleeting family resemblance.

Every year, Wales release new photos to celebrate their children’s birthdays, which were generally taken by their mother, the Princess of Wales.

Last year, when Charlotte celebrated turning seven, photos were released showing the youngster at the family’s country home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

No doubt the princess was delighted with the pre-Christmas treat her mother had arranged for her on Saturday, taking a group of friends to the Royal Opera House to see the Cinderella ballet, where the girls were allowed to go on stage at the end.

As one Twitter user confirmed her surprise at seeing the royal mother and daughter in the audience, a video on Instagram showed the Princess of Wales walking up to her daughter who was on stage.

Charlotte is set to wow royal fans this weekend when she appears with her family at the coronation ceremony.

She is not believed to have an official role due to her age but is expected to attend the ceremony at Westminster Abbey as well as appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

The young queen is expected to join her father, the Prince of Wales, mother Kate, older brother Prince George, nine, and younger brother Prince Louis, five, in the coronation procession.

It was reported last week that the royal siblings will be seated in a carriage with their parents behind King Charles and Queen Camilla, who will travel in the Gold State coach.

Joining Wales is the Princess Royal and her husband, Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra.

Princess Anne, a former Olympic jockey, will ride behind the Golden State coach who will carry Charles and Camilla through the mall.

This role is officially given the title of Gold-Stick-in-Waiting, a position historically given to the person trusted to look after the King’s safety.

Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and Prince Harry are not expected to be involved.

After much speculation about whether or not the Sussexes will attend the coronation, it was confirmed last month that Prince Harry will travel to London to be at Westminster Abbey for the ceremony, but that Meghan will stay in Montecito, California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. .

But it was reported over the weekend that the Duke’s visit to the UK would be fleeting and that he was unlikely to last long as he is keen to return to the US for Prince Archie’s fourth birthday – which also falls on Saturday.
