Kendall Jenner kept her best looks for her latest outing in New York City at the 2023 Met Gala.
After a weekend of rare appearances around town, Jenner stepped up the famously carpeted stairs of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the annual Costume Institute benefit in a black sequin-drenched Marc Jacobs bodysuit — and little else. The standout piece included extra long sleeves with a white quilted lining that trailed behind them like a separate cape as she walked.
Jenner upped the drama even more with her accessories. The model walked the carpet in a pair of lace-up shoes, coordinating with her black suit. She completed her look with a high ponytail and a sparkly piece of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
“I feel amazing, and I’m so happy to be here,” Jenner said in a red carpet interview. The evening’s theme and dress code were a tribute to the late Karl Lagerfeld, who had chosen Jenner for some of her first fashion shows. “It’s a little emotional. I owe a lot to (Lagerfeld) and what he’s done for me,” she said. “I started working with him when I was really young and really new, and he really embraced me.”
Jenner has been teasing a major fashion moment all week with a series of scenes all over New York City. On Saturday, April 29, the 818 Tequila founder attended a Karl Lagerfeld retrospective hosted by luxury boutique What Goes Around Comes Around in a semi-sheer cobalt gown by Alexandre Vauthier. The following evening, she is seen leaving a date with Bad Bunny wearing a Paloma Wool top, Blumarine skirt, and Blumarine shoes.
Jenner’s look at the 2023 Met Gala is the latest in a string of memorable looks at the annual event. For the 2022 theme “Gilded Glamor,” she wore a Prada ensemble featuring a black sheer top and a voluminous black skirt covered in cascading ruffle detailing. Her beauty look, which featured a stark middle part of her hair and bleached eyebrows, was one of the biggest risks of the evening.
The fashion tour may not end with a pants-free moment on the steps of the iconic Metropolitan Museum. In previous years, Jenner also attended several after-parties at the Met Gala — and switched to more iconic looks for the evening for the occasion.
