Kim Kardashian may have walked the 2023 Met Gala red carpet alone, but she had an extra special fan cheering for her nearby. The 42-year-old reality star attended her 10th Met Gala Monday night after getting ready with her 9-year-old daughter, North West.
“This year I just wanted to feel the magic. I didn’t feel the pressure,” Kim said. Vogue magazine on the carpet. “I just wanted to have a good time.”
Giving insight into the pre-event ritual with sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, she said, “I took a snapshot before I came over with my sisters. My daughter was in the room with me.”
North was spotted leaving the hotel with her famous mom on the way to the Met Gala, but she didn’t walk the carpet because the annual fundraiser has age restrictions of 18 and up. So where was Kim and Kanye West’s eldest child during the soiree?
“She’s actually in the car watching us all walk down the red carpet,” North’s Kim shared. “So it was just a magical night.”

For the special occasion, Kim wore a custom Schiaparelli gown covered in 50,000 freshwater pearls, giving North yet another significant mission.
Kim explained, “I wanted the pearls. I thought, What’s more about Karl? The iconic Chanel pearls are what I always had in mind, so we wanted to drop in the pearls.” “Some popped out on the way, and I told my daughter to catch them all. They’re real pearls, and she’d put them in her bag.”
The theme for this year’s Met Gala was “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” and it celebrated the late designer’s full work and entire life.
This year’s dress was “in honor of Karl”. The co-chairs of the spring fashion event were Michaela Cowell, Penelope Cruz, Dua Lipa, tennis pro Roger Federer, and Vogue magazine Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour. The annual gala is a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Before the ceremony, North surprised her mom by covering her hotel room in white rose petals and candles and arranging for her to get a massage and pampering. Watch the clip below for more.
