Kim Kardashian wears a stunning look by Lagerfeld at the Met Gala

Kim Kardashian dripped in pearls with a sparkly Lagerfeld tribute at the Met Gala

As a nod to late designer Karl Lagerfeld’s penchant for pearls, Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala look was drenched in them.

I thought, ‘What’s more about Carl? “You know, the iconic Chanel pearls are what I always had in mind. So we wanted to drop in pearls,” Kardashian said of her custom Schiaparelli collection on Vogue’s live broadcast from the New York red carpet on Monday night. (Technically, the rug was a more rich cream color.)

Several strands of pearls were layered over a tan corset, and still more worked like Kardashian’s maxi skirt. While it was widely lauded as a stylish example of the trend among party invitees, some social media users compared the look to the semi-nude photo shoot Kardashian took part in during the first season of her reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. ”

Members of the Kardashian-Jenner family have been mainstays at the Met Gala in recent years. At last year’s event, Kardashian made headlines when she wore the dress Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang “Happy Birthday” to President John F. Kennedy in 1962. Her look at the 2021 Met Gala was no less provocative; She wore a “faceless” Balenciaga gown that covered her completely in head-to-toe black.

this year, Kardashian’s half-sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner also attended. Kylie wore a custom bright red dress by Jean Paul Gaultier under a red and blue oversized coat, both pieces by designer Haider Ackermann.

Kendall – who has walked the runways for Chanel in Lagerfeld on multiple occasions – dazzled in black sequins by Marc Jacobs with long sleeves and knee-high boots.

“Karl has been my hero since I was 17 looking at Chloe’s collections,” Jacobs said in a live broadcast to Vogue during a later interview.

“He was, to me, like a real couturier,” Jacobs said of Lagerfeld’s “unbridled creativity” and disregard for limitations.
