PlayStation 5 Pro is “100%” in development at Sony, Henderson Claims; The first development kits will be sent out soon

The PlayStation 5 Pro is real and development kits for the high-end PS5 console will be sent to developers soon, according to well-known leaker Tom Henderson.

In March of this year, Henderson reported that Sony is working on the PS5 Pro in a similar way to its own PS4 Pro. This PS5 console is said to be released in late 2024. At least, Henderson writes in an article on Insider Gaming. No more details have been shared about this rumored “Pro” model. Since then, the well-known leaker has claimed that Sony is working on other new hardware as well, including a portable Q-Lite, a PS5 Slim model, and more.

Sony hasn’t confirmed any of these new PlayStation hardware yet, and as such, we’re not sure if Henderson is aware of the information he claims to have. In a new article Henderson posted on Insider Gaming today, the leaker claims that the PlayStation 5 Pro is 100% in development at Sony. As a matter of fact, it is said that the dev kits for the Pro model will be sent to first-party studios in the next couple of months. After that, the development kits will also be handed over to third-party developers. Henderson’s article ends with what has already been said about the PS5 Pro release window – Q4 2024.

Insider Gaming can report with a degree of 100% certainty that a PlayStation 5 Pro is currently in development,” says Henderson’s new article. He adds, “While we can’t report any other details at this time, we understand that the first development kit will be sent out.” The prototypes will be sent to first-party developers within the next two months, and third-party developers will receive them by the end of the year.”

As is always the case with these types of reports and rumors, take the above information with a pinch of salt. Then again, Henderson has proven to be quite reliable in the past.

Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro model was announced in 2016 – three years after the launch of the regular PS4 model. The current PlayStation 5 models (digital and disc version) were released back in November 2020 after being announced in September 2016. We’ll update you as soon as more information emerges on the rumored PS5 Pro model. For now, stay tuned.
