Fresh from returning to Juventus after six years Manchester United, Paul Pogba has suffered a blow by tearing his meniscus.
The 29-year-old midfielder endured an injury-hit campaign for United in 2021-22, missing several months due to hamstring and calf issues, but was also often excluded from both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s and Ralf Rangnick’s first-choice XIs when fit.
He left Old Trafford at the end of last season when his contract expired.
A return to Juventus, where Pogba demonstrated the best form of his senior career, was cause for optimism, but a club statement revealed a further problem.
“Following the pain reported in his right knee, Paul Pogba was subjected to radiological investigations which revealed a lesion of the lateral meniscus,” the club reported.
“In the next few hours he will undergo a specialist orthopedic consultation. Therefore, he will not take part in the trip to Dallas to continue treatment.”
Juventus finished fourth in Serie A last season, 16 points behind winners AC Milan.
